Froe suitable for most medium-duty work.
Use to accurately split green roundwood, typically to produce billets for cleft gates or chair components, often in conjunction with a cleaving break.
The eye is tapered, so the blade is driven onto the handle with each whack of a wooden maul and can be dismantled for storage.
The blade, made from EN9 spring steel is 55mm (10") long, 50mm (2") deep and 9mm (3/8") at its thickest.
The lightly oiled beech handle is 370mm (14 1/2") long.
Total weight 900 grams.
For heavy duty work go for a Gransfors Bruk or Muller froe.
