The Gransfors Bruk CARPENTER’S AXE has a cutting edge that is almost straight. The bit is thin with long flat bevels, this makes this axe best suited to working with dry wood.
Designed primarily for conventional carpentry work in dry wood, but it’s an axe capable of a range of duties.
We used this axe recently on an oak frame job and appreciated the straight edge being able to get cleanly into the corners of large tenons. Also being able to use it just like a chisel to make small adjustments to the thickness of tenons.
The cut away area behind the bit allows you to get pressure directly behind the head.
The head weighs 1 1/2Ibs, total weight 2 1/2Ibs. The robust edge is 90mm (3 1/2″) long with flat distinct shouldered bevels.
The specially hardened and ground poll can be used as a hammer.
This axe has a straight 460mm (18″) American hickory handle, lightly oiled and waxed.
Comes with a grain leather sheath, the Gransfors Bruk Axe Book and a twenty year forging guarantee.
